A Rustic Wedding at The Hill in Hudson, New York

Kate Yeager (30 and works in women’s swimwear sales) and Anthony Genna (30 and a high school English teacher) tied the knot in a relaxed rustic wedding in Hudson, New York. The couple originally met through friends, but didn’t begin dating until a year later. “Anthony was quiet and admired from a far,” Kate says. “I finally made the first move and the rest is history.” Anthony eventually surprised Kate with a proposal outside on a snowy day in her hometown. “It was nostalgic, low key and just the two of us,” she says. The bride and groom chose The Hill, a residential property in Hudson, New York, as the venue for their special day. The ceremony took place outdoors on the grass and a cocktail hour followed in a small square barn. Guests eventually moved to a bigger two-story barn in the back of the property for the reception. “We wanted people to move from space to space and experience the entire property,” the bride explains. “The front of the barn was wide open so people flowed in and out.” Decor at the reception included floral centerpieces, string lights and vintage mix and match plates. The night ended with a bonfire after party where everyone made s’mores. “All in all, I think our guests felt comfortable and loved,” Kate says. “The environment was relaxed and warm.”
