A Rustic Wedding at Magnolia Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina
Katie DeWolf (30 and a phsyician assistant with the US Navy) and Blake Peltz (31 and a lawyer with the United States Marine Corps) met when they were both away on deployment. They had an instant connection and quickly became friends, but Katie was unsure about starting a relationship given the circumstances. "I could tell he liked me and I knew I really liked him, but a nagging thought kept running through my mind, that I couldn't date anyone on deployment!" says Katie. Despite her reservations, their friendship continue to blossom and after Valentine's Day, when Blake made it obvious that he was interested, she decided to take the plunge. The couple continued to spend time together and just a few months after they returned home from deployment, Blake popped the question on a weekend away in Charleston, SC. "Blake proposed in a way that was big, movie-like and more romantic than I could have ever imagined," says Katie. "We took an afternoon horse-drawn carriage ride around downtown Charleston. We stopped in front of the Americana Cinema and written on the marquee was 'THE LOVE OF MY LIFE - STARRING KATIE DEWOLF AND BLAKE PELTZ' and on the sides it read 'KATIE I LOVE YOU - WILL YOU MARRY ME?.' The tears were flowing before I even stepped down from the carriage. Blake got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. It was the perfect moment and better than I could have ever dreamed!"For their wedding, the couple chose the Carriage House at Magnolia Plantation in Charleston, SC to host the affair, for both the beautiful property and convenient location near the base where they were stationed. To let the beauty of the setting shine, Katie and Blake kept the decor simple, choosing bunches of fresh ivory, purple and blue blooms to bring the carriage house to life.
