A Rustic Wedding at Kitchen in Chicago, Illinois
Carrie and Steve's story actually sounds like the beginning of a movie. Since the two of them were (somewhat awkwardly) the only two people inside a cafe, they just started talking. "Both of us had been through some big life changes recently and I think we shared a desire to connect with someone," Carrie says. "Little did we know at the time that that day would become our anniversary mark. Fast-forward four years and we're on the Chicago River enjoying a warm June afternoon. The sun was shining, the water was calm, and it was just the two of us on a small, rented boat. Before I knew it, Steve was down on his knee asking me to marry him." Carrie says she didn't have anything in mind when it came to colors or style, but a feeling of spring came through in every design aspect. From the garden-surrounded pictures, faux robin's eggs and nests as decor details and fresh wildflower centerpieces. Everything went down at Kitchen in Chicago, a simple, loft-style venue with all wooden floors. "It was industrial and rustic at the same time and the blank space allowed for all the personal touches that we knew we wanted to be a part of the day," Carrie says. Molly Park Photography captured the entire event.
