A Rustic Wedding at Forty-Five North Vineyard in Lake Leelenau, Michigan

Benjamin (29 and a graphic designer) met Daniel (29 and a physician's assistant) on Match.com during what was supposed to just be a trial membership in 2011. "I was a poor college student, so I tried a free seven day membership and Ben just happened to be at this end of his membership," Daniel explains. "It was perfect timing. We started emailing daily and had our first date at a local restaurant called Rose's. As cliche as it sounds, when I showed up and saw him sitting on a bench, I knew that he was the man that I would marry." Two years later, the couple tied the knot in an outdoor ceremony in Traverse City at the rustic Forty-Five North Vineyard. "Getting married among the grapes with a hint of orange on the trees was ideal for what we wanted," Daniel says. "It was single, elegant, rustic and easy-going." Since the couple lived roughly two-and-a-half hours from the venue, they quickly decided to cover the expense of the clothing for everyone in their wedding party; including the dark blue David's Bridal bridesmaid dresses while and light-gray pinstriped pants and dress shirts for their groomsmen. As far as decorating their rustic, outdoor space, the couple kept things simple. "The location we chose was decorative enough -- we didn't want to distract from its natural beauty," Daniel explains. "The vineyard provided a great gazebo to use as a platform where we got married while our guests stood on the hill." Despite a last-minute rain storm that threatened to ruin their day, the couple remained optimistic and celebrated with guests throughout the rest of the night and Labor Day weekend. "We planned our wedding for our guests," Daniel says. "Instead of a traditional, one-day event, we turned the weekend into a multi-day experience. In all, the entire weekend epitomized how Ben and I live our life surrounded by those we love, good food and good drinks."
