Monique Dulac (33 and a GIS analyst) and Aaron Rouse (33 and a mortgage underwriter) met through mutual friends. Aaron proposed while they were on vacation in Puerto Rico. Since Aaron is a scientist, Denver Museum of Nature and Science was a natural choice for the wedding. They used the outdoors and science as their inspiration and used copper, green and white for a rustic color palette. Keeping with the science theme, the couple even put a physics equation on the three-tier vegan wedding cake. "The equation on our cake is Schrodinger’s equation,” Aaron says. “It describes how waveforms evolve with time and how individual particles act as if there are complex interactions with other particles in it’s wave, even when alone. I chose this equation because Monique and my relationship has fundamentally changed our nature." At the end of the night, they danced “Home” by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. “I was nervous to dance in front of everyone, but as soon as we got out there I tripped, messed up a move and stepped on my dress which almost caused me to flash everyone,” Monique says. “That definitely took the pressure off and we just started laughing and goofing around. It was awesome.”

Monique carried succulents, ranunculus, spider mums and wheat grass in her bouquet.
“I had a fantastic little number from Vera Wang,” Monique says. “It was a strapless ivory lace dress with a small train and a sweetheart neckline.”
The bridesmaids wore their own black dresses for the wedding for an eclectic, personalized look.
The groomsmen wore three-piece black suits and Aaron wore a three-piece gray suit.
The groom and groomsmen wore succulents and baby’s breath for their boutonnieres.
“The ceremony took place on the roof deck of the Museum of Nature and Science overlooking the skyline of Denver and the Rocky Mountains,” Monique says.

“The reception took place in the atrium below with a 100-foot wall of glass looking out onto city park and the skyline,” Monique says. “Our vision was to mix my love for the outdoors and his love for science. The museum hit both right on the head.”

Monique and Aaron enjoyed a four-tier wedding cake with carrot, ginger and red velvet layers and was decorated with succulents and physics equations. "The equation on our cake is Schrodinger’s equation,” Aaron says. “It describes how waveforms evolve with time and how individual particles act as if there are complex interactions with other particles in it’s wave, even when alone. I chose this equation because Monique and my relationship has fundamentally changed our nature. All of our actions are affected by our relationship with each other, even when we are alone. We too continue to evolve over time, both as individuals and together."
Monique and Aaron gave guests birdseed hearts for the wedding favors.
“We had taken a couple dance lessons to figure out how to dance to the song we loved (‘Home’ by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros),” Monique says. “I was nervous to dance in front of everyone, but as soon as we got out there I tripped, messed up a move and stepped on my dress which almost caused me to flash everyone. That definitely took the pressure off and we just started laughing and goofing around. It was awesome.”
