A Rustic Vintage Wedding at the Historic Rice Mill in Charleston, South Carolina

Sarah Michaels (28 and a import representative at Carotrans International) and Philip Rosel (31 and a software engineer at Spawar) met at a social event through a mutual friend in June of 2011. After exchanging phone numbers and talking every day after, Sarah and Phillip began dating. That October, she moved to Charleston, South Carolina and three years later, Phillip proposed. He brought Sarah to Station 19 on Sullivans Island where he packed a picnic and asked if she would do him the honor of becoming his wife and marry him. During the planning process, they fell in love with the Historic Rice Mill which was the first place they visited. The exposed brick, intricate ceiling, columns, and the view of the harbor are what sold this venue to Sarah and Phillip. It was the perfect vessel for Sarah's unique vintage touches in the decor. Most of the mason jars on the tables were decorated by Sarah and her sister, containing vintage buttons and lace that were from Sarah's great-grandmother's sewing kit. The invitation suite brought out the color scheme of blush, gray, and gold with touches of mint. Sarah looked breathtaking in her ivory vintage lace Alfred Angelo gown just as Phillip wore a tailored khaki suit from Banana Republic paired with a grey tie. The band Midnight City provided live music for the cocktail hour and reception as guests were served She Crab Soup shooters, mini Crab Cakes with remoulade, fresh arugula, grape tomato and craked pepper aioli on a bacon chip, and a fried green tomato bite with sweet pepper relish on goat cheese toast. "Take note of the songs played, how amazing your cake looks and the food that's served. These will be memories you will cherish forever," says Sarah.
