A Rustic, Vintage Wedding at Swift Level Farm in Lewisburg, West Virginia

Soft shades of pink and an early 19th-century farmhouse gave Jessica Sanger and PJ Heilig’s summer wedding a romantic-meets-rustic feel. The pair DIY’d many of the wedding day details themselves. In the months leading up to the wedding, Jessica and her mother scoured antique and thrift shops for unique pieces to weave throughout the festivities, from vintage floral dinnerware to pink fabric lounge chairs and crystal chandeliers. Lush blush and fuchsia peonies—Jessica’s favorite flower—were the stars of the floral arrangements, and vibrant rose petals lined the ceremony aisle. The proud parents of a golden retriever, Lily, Jessica and PJ made sure to include their pup into the festivities: Jessica made a fern and pink floral collar for her to sport during the ceremony and had her walk down the aisle with the wedding party. The reception was held under an open-air tent that overlooked the mountains and the rolling hills, and potted geraniums were given to guests as a way to remember the event. “It is so easy to get caught up in the planning details and making everything perfect that you don’t take the time to slow down to focus on what really matters—the two of you,” Jessica says. “Your wedding day is the most special day and when it arrives, none of those details really matter. All that matters is that you’re marrying the love of your life in front of family and friends that love you—what more could you ask for?”
