A Rustic, Vintage Wedding at Rubies and Rust Barn in Belle Plaine, Minnesota

Sarah Hughes (24 and a graphic designer) eventually captured the attention of her sister’s friend from school, her crush Tim Langley (29 and a quality assurance engineer). On a trip to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Orlando, Tim snuck a love note into a Marauder’s Map, and when Sarah finished reading, he was down on one knee with a ring. To keep their wedding close to home, they chose the Rubies and Rust Barn in Belle Plaine, Minnesota. “Our wedding had a very old, vintage and rustic feeling,” says Sarah. The wedding took place in the upstairs of a wooden barn filled with whimsical mismatched vintage furniture and decor the venue already had on-site. For the ceremony, guests turned their chairs to face a hinged door altar the couple brought in to be the backdrop as they exchanged vows. “Our vows were short and sweet so we could enjoy spending time with our family and friends,” says Sarah. Following the ceremony, a cocktail hour and reception took place in the same room. Guests dined on home-style foods as the DJ played instrumental versions of the couple’s favorite songs. “We wanted to keep our wedding casual and comfortable,” says Sarah. After dinner, all the guests gathered together to take a group picture to remember the night!
