A Rustic Vintage Wedding at a Private Residence in Hayesville, North Carolina
Mandy Phillips (25 and owner of a clothing boutique) and Scott Spell (28 and in floor maintenance) got engaged in Mandy’s parents’ backyard in Hayesville, North Carolina, where they would later marry. They had a rustic vintage-inspired mountainside farm wedding, customized with meaningful details and DIY projects that got the whole family involved in the day. The ceremony took place in a field with church pews borrowed from family members and homemade burlap pillows to hold the programs. Mandy and Scott lit a unity candle on an altar made from old doors from the bride’s great-grandmother’s home. The reception inside the barn included dinner at old farm tables with vintage and burlap decor, followed by music and dancing. Guests could venture outside for a game of corn hole, built by Mandy’s father, or take photos at the booth set up near two picture frames hanging from a tree. The bride and groom had their send-off close to midnight and sent their guests home with homemade apple butter. "Needless to say, it was the best day of my life!" says Mandy.
