A Rustic, Vintage Wedding at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens in Charleston, South Carolina
Rachele Moskowitz (34 and a marriage and family therapist) and Michael Olson (35 and a financial analyst) had their destination wedding at the Magnolia Plantation and Gardens in Charleston, South Carolina, where they combined a muted color palette with rustic and vintage elements to create a charming ambiance. "The plantation's history provides a lot of charm and elegance, while its proximity to the water makes it an amazing vacation spot for guests," Rachele says. The wedding-day photographer, Riveland Studios, captured every beautiful moment, from the outdoor ceremony with a rustic-iron arch to the indoor reception at the Carriage House. When it was time to find her perfect wedding dress, Rachele knew she wanted something simple yet nontraditional. She chose a Sarah Seven strapless dress with an A-line style. "The one I chose was perfectly suited to me," she says. Rachele and Michael faced the difficult challenge of planning a wedding from across the country. "There wasn't a strict color palette, more of a general feeling I wanted to create," Rachele says, "which was challenging since we were planning a wedding in Charleston, South Carolina, while living in San Diego, California." Wanting the wedding-day decor to reflect Southern charm, she played with the natural decor at the Magnolia Plantation and Gardens using plenty of mason jars, candlelight and vintage furniture. In the end, what Rachele and Michael found most special about their wedding day was not their decor, but rather their intimate guest list. "The small size meant that we got to spend one-on-one time with each and every guest," Rachele says. "I hope they all knew how much it meant to us to have them there."
