A Rustic Vintage Wedding at a Private Residence in Mankato, Minnesota
Emily Green (28 and a stylist and administrative assistant) and Daniel Dinsmore (32 and a photographer) met when Daniel took Emily's high school senior photos. Having mutual friends, they always gravitated towards each other at parties and events. After two years of dating, Daniel proposed to Emily with an authentic antique filigree ring on New Years Eve in 2011 with Sam Cooke playing in the background. Having always dreamt of an outdoor ceremony, Emily was thrilled when Daniel's parents offered their stunning land in Mankato, Minnesota for their wedding. Having an affinity for 1940s style from studying history in college, the couple decided on a rustic vintage theme which was seen in the fashions of the wedding party and guests included! Guests were invited and encouraged to dress in 1940s style attire for the ceremony and reception. Emily and Daniel had a blast buying antique umbrellas, tins and bottles, birdcages, mismatched plates, over-sized frames, crates and furniture for the venue decor. Wanting to make her own bridal bouquet, Emily made flowers out of fabric. Her bridesmaids joined in the DIY fun and made their own fabric bouquets as well. Being professionals in the wedding industry as a stylist and a photographer, Emily and Daniel wanted a fun, relaxing day from beginning to end. "We slept in, got breakfast at our favorite diner and got married at night. With free cocktails, beer and wine at the ceremony and reception, everybody was feeling pretty good when the live band came on," says Emily.
