It was important to Krystalynn and James that their wedding reflect their love of Anchorage. Their top two priorities: a lodge-style reception and an Alaskan menu. They found exactly that at the Bayshore Clubhouse, a rustic lodge event space with Alaskan catering options like salmon, halibut, and reindeer sausage. The Bride Krystalynn Kuhns, 27, statistical technician The Groom James Scott Jr., 28, Air Force Reserve The Date July 22 Krystalynn didn’t want a strict color combo. Instead the decor was inspired by the vintage style of the couple’s 1920s-themed engagement pictures. She picked light and elegant details like pink flowers and white wedding cakes to highlight the Clubhouse’s dark woodwork.

Krystalynn and James took dance lessons from their DJ to coordinate their dance to their first song choice, “It’s Your Love” by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.
James requested an Apple Cube computer cake for his groom’s cake. The couple also added a MySpace logo to the side as a tribute to how they met.
In keeping with their vintage theme, the couple designed vintage newspaper-style wrappers for their candy bar favors. The wrappers were also a great way to add a thank-you to their guests.
Krystalynn’s sister did her hair in soft, romantic curls, then secured it with a birdcage veil and feather fascinator that the bride had bought on Etsy.
The Bayshore Clubhouse perfectly fit Krystalynn and James’s lodge-like wedding aesthetic. To play up the Clubhouse’s tall ceilings, Krystalynn requested high centerpieces. She wasn’t sure about using Christmas lights to decorate the beams of the room, but in the end she loved the look.
Krystalynn designed the two-tiered wedding cakes herself and had her baker bring them to life using ribbons, brooches, and vintage cake stands.
The bride’s grandfather performed the simple wedding ceremony in the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Anchorage. They also had a unity candle and a harp player to represent David’s harp in the Bible.
Because she didn’t know very much about flowers, Krystalynn gave her florist a list of colors and instructions to create something vintage-looking that included peonies. The resulting bouquet was made up of light-pink peonies, dahlias, astilbe, roses, lilies, hydrangea, lisianthus, wax flower, stephanotis, and orchids.
