A Rustic, Vibrant Wedding at New London Historical Society in New London, New Hampshire

Vibrant pops of color took this rustic wedding to another level! Brittany Gorman (28 and a vice president for media group) and Michael Maroni (29 and an accountant executive) both grew up in small mountain towns and channeled their down-to-earth roots in a relaxed, barn wedding. With bursts of coral, lavender, tangerine and mint, they achieved an upbeat, polished ceremony and reception, captured by J. Harper Photography. Brittany walked down the aisle to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," the same song her mother walked down the aisle and married her father to. "I wanted everything incorporated in the wedding to have some special meaning," Brittany says. "Every song we chose, every quote we used, was all personal in some way." The bride wore a fit-and-flare, ankle-length Dolly Couture wedding dress—inspired by her mother's and grandmother's ankle-length wedding dresses. Aisle signs were painted with quotes Michael chose from his favorite authors, and the bride's bouquet included a blue charm shared by her two best friends. One detail we loved: Emily B. Event Design created paper flowers that decorated the wooden wedding arbor and barn entrance with a splash of color—without breaking the couple's budget. "I wanted to be mindful of our floral costs, and the event planners had the amazing idea to incorporate paper flowers for a bit of whimsy and a big price saving," Brittany says. Her advice? "Pick your vendors wisely and then trust them to execute. They are the experts for a reason, and you will likely be blown away by their vision and passion if you allow them to do their job. It can be hard to let go and allow someone else to execute for your big day, but when you do, magic happens!"
