A Rustic, Traditional Wedding at Welch Village Ski Resort in Welch, Minnesota
Travis Olson (22 and a salesman) and Leah Olson (20 and a university student) met while working summer jobs at the same golf course. Initially, Leah's parents did not allow her to go out with Travis because he did not attend the same church as the family. Leah had to sneak out of her house to meet Travis for coffee for their first date. On their second date, Travis picked Leah up at her house where Leah's parents noticed the special look Travis had when he saw her. It was then they knew that the new couple would be married one day. A few years later, Leah woke to find a nice dress and a pair of shoes waiting for her. Travis told her to wear them because they were going to go out that night. While on their way to one of their favorite restaurants in St. Louis Park, MN surrounded by Christmas trees and twinkling lights, Travis proposed to Leah. "We had our ceremony at a place very special and dear to our hearts," Leah shared of their decision to have their ceremony at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lake City, MN. Leah's father is a pastor there and would later marry them in the country style church. Due to its close proximity to the church, its rustic charm and its large spacing, the couple chose the Welch Village Ski Resort in Welch, MN for their reception. Their color palette was coral, black and gold and their theme was "rustic but elegant." Many DIY projects could be found throughout the reception space. Hand-painted mason jars, black lanterns and wooden table numbers made for the perfect rustic decorations . "We are very down to earth people with country roots and our faith and family is at the center," Leah shared about their choice to keep their wedding simple. Travis and Leah were overjoyed just to spend their special day dancing and laughing with their family and friends.
