A Rustic Summer Wedding at Turner Farm in North Haven, Maine
Drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of their Vacationland venue, Ashley Perkins (28 and an account executive) and Roderick Salguero (31 and a loan portfolio manager) pulled off a rustic-chic soiree in North Haven, Maine, for their midsummer wedding. Their ceremony was at Ashley’s family's summer home, a special spot that provided a picturesque backdrop for the couple’s “I dos.” “The property has a large garden in the front of the house, so minimal decoration was needed,” Ashley says. The bride made a grand exit on the back of a vintage fire truck, and the couple’s two dogs stood faithfully by their sides as they exchanged vows. “My sister held Olive on a leash, while Popeye ended up sleeping on the back of my dress for most of the wedding,” Ashley says of the pups.
A reception at Turner Farm followed, where the newlyweds and their guests celebrated in a quaint barn overlooking the water. The barn’s wooden walls and beams set a warm, inviting tone for the evening, which was heightened with lush wildflower centerpieces, lace and burlap table runners, and flickering votive candles. As a nod to the location, Ashley and Roderick guided guests to their seats with gilded mussel shells and filled oyster shells with sea salt for their friends and families to use during dinner. Guests enjoyed a meal of fresh, locally sourced eats, including an oyster bar provided by North Haven Oyster Company, and DJ Bill Trevaskis kept the dance floor (and the photo booth) packed all night with a set list of upbeat tunes. To thank their friends and family members in attendance, the newlyweds gave everyone a taste of Maine with miniature bottles of olive oil and blueberry balsamic vinegar. “When planning your wedding, include some time for yourself in order to enjoy the moment, since it will go by quickly," Ashley adds of taking an hour-long spin on Vespas with Roderick on the way to the reception. —Libby MacCarthy
