A Rustic, Summer Wedding at Stafford's Bay View Inn in Petoskey, Michigan

John Venet (35 and in retail management) and Lori Venet (34 and a chemist) met in 1999 and eventually reconnected in 2011 through Facebook. Two years later, John and Lori were preparing to host a summer party. As Lori was getting ready, John seemed to be growing impatient and insisted that Lori read her email. There he wrote about their relationship and their journey together. John then proposed to Lori before the party so they were able to celebrate with family and friends. John and Lori chose to have their wedding at Stafford's Bay View Inn in Petoskey, MI. They knew they wanted an intimate wedding and thought northern Michigan, where they both used to spend summers, would be perfect. "We're both very close to our families and having just family and a few close friends there to celebrate our day with us was special," Lori says. With their August wedding, the gardens were in full bloom and the view of Lake Michigan provided beautiful scenery. Lori wanted a "light and airy" feeling, so she chose a color palette of peach and mint with burlap and lace accents. She provided photographs as inspiration for her florist who created an assortment of floral arrangements including, ranunculus, roses and chrysanthemums. She collected various glasses and vases for the floral centerpieces adding a rustic, vintage look. John and Lori's intimate, summer wedding ended up being the perfect start on their journey together.
