A Rustic Summer Wedding at Saltwater Farm Vineyards in Stonington, Connecticut
Julie Sylvester (29 and a licensed architect) and Jeffrey Schmidt (28 and works in finance) booked Saltwater Farm Vineyard—a former airport and hangar converted into a winery—for its exposed timber frame, polished concrete floors, steel staircase and industrial siding. “I wanted the theme of our wedding to reflect that fun interplay of rustic and modern,” Julie says. Striped linens, botanical-inspired stationery, and a neutral palette of green and white lent a sense of sophistication to the couple’s winery wedding.
Public school buses transported guests to the reception, where they found personalized escort cards made from framed photos. “I admittedly stalked all 190 guests on Facebook to find my favorite photo of them,” Julie says. “It was such meticulous work, but worth seeing the excitement on everyone’s faces.” Later, the newlyweds cut into a hazelnut cake with coconut buttercream for dessert.
