A Rustic Summer Wedding at Chapel Creek Winery in El Reno, Oklahoma

Jolee Suddock (25, a medical student) and Kelly Suddock (27, a forklift technician) met at a bar. “The story, however, is a little nicer than that,” Jolee says. “That evening, my friends pleaded with me to go out with them. Having been an avid bookworm, getting ready to take the medical college admission test and ensure my spot in medical school, I rarely left the house. That particular night, I reluctantly agreed. When Kelly walked into the bar, we all spotted him and I’ll never forget what he was wearing: a red plaid shirt with a gray ‘Star Wars’ T-shirt underneath. He wore a Boba Fett belt buckle to top it all off. Immediately intrigued by the nerdy ‘Star Wars’ guy that just walked in, we decided to invite him over and have a drink with us. He had been out that night celebrating his friend’s birthday. Kelly and I spent the entire night talking. Without a doubt, we knew we were meant to be together. The night we got engaged began simply with a movie and dinner in downtown OKC. In the disguise of an evening off from medical school, I was completely unaware he had planned to propose. Our favorite restaurant at the time was Bolero, but on this particular night, they were not at their best. The service was bad, the food was far from the usual, and I was so frustrated, I actually stated, ‘At least you aren’t going to propose!’ Kelly laughed it off nervously, and I was still oblivious. Later that night as the sun began to set and we were alone next to the canal, he knelt down and asked me to marry him! He had picked out the ring by himself and having never asked me what I preferred, I was surprised it was absolutely perfect.”When the couple started planning their wedding, they decided to tie the knot someplace similar to where they met!“Having met at a bar, we thought it would be perfect to seal the deal at a winery,” Jolee says. “It also fit with our rustic theme. After searching online, we found one we absolutely loved -- Chapel Creek Winery. But there was only one problem: It was in El Reno. We lived in Tulsa, and our family lived in east Oklahoma, nowhere near El Reno. But after visiting the site, we knew it was the perfect place.”
