A Rustic Southern Wedding at Magnolia Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina
Morgan Neal (24 and a marketing manager) and Dustin Mynatt (31 and a teacher and football coach) threw a relaxed, rustic wedding at Magnolia Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina. The duo’s overarching goals were to keep their small destination wedding elegant, while also accentuating the rustic antiquity of the Southern plantation estate. “I wanted it to feel beautiful and romantic, keeping in mind the gardens of the plantation, but also feel relaxed for our guests,” Morgan says.
Light lavender linen accents paired with unfinished wooden flower boxes on farm tables created a cozy yet refined reception experience. Corn hole, the couple's favorite outdoor lawn game, was set out for guests to enjoy during the reception. “I can honestly say that the entire day embodied who we are as a couple: Southern, relaxed, and a whole lot of fun,” Morgan says. The ceremony took place near the water under two large oak trees dripping in Spanish moss, near the carriage house where their reception was held. Morgan’s grandfather, a retired minister, led the first part of the ceremony, which Dustin’s pastor from his childhood church concluded. “It was very important for us that the person who did the ceremony was someone we respected and admired for their marriages and their faith.” Morgan spent time rewriting the vows that she and Dustin recited to each other to keep the ceremony sentimental and the best reflection of who they are together. —Juliette Cheatham
