A Rustic Southern Wedding at Cedarwood in Nashville, Tennessee
To say that Courtney Hubbard (30 and a neonatal nurse) and Jason Cohen (38 and an insurance sales manager) loaded their wedding with personality is probably an understatement. Details small and large were custom-designed to create a superpersonal affair with a high-style rustic vibe. The couple chose Cedarwood historic estate, located just outside Nashville, Tennessee, to host their Southern-infused spring wedding. The festivities began with Courtney's father escorting her to a preceremony first look with her soon-to-be-husband by a wooded lake, where the couple privately read letters to each other, and a romantic ceremony followed in the six-acre meadow. If that's not magical enough: As if on cue, a baby fawn pranced out of the wood and laid in the field during the ceremony. No, really. After the couple were married, the guests moved to the barn for cocktails and passed hors d'ouevres, which included fried green tomatoes and shrimp and grits, while the bridal party hunted down a buried bottle of bourbon—a Nashville tradition that's said to help ward off wedding day rain. Dinner took place on the elegant covered pavilion of the estate's historic home that was set to live jazz, and a raucous evening of dancing in the garden terrace followed. Rocking chairs and quilts were brought out to the dance floor for guests to rest their feet, and s'mores were passed out as a late-night treat. Courtney and Jason ended their night with a sparkler send-off and a truly Southern grand exit—in the bed of a vintage red pickup truck.—Michelle Thomas
