A Rustic, Romantic Wedding at Woodwalk Gallery in Egg Harbor, Wisconsin

Katherine Knitter (24 and a pediatric social worker) and Kevin Knitter (24 and a trust operations specialist) planned a romantic, whimsical affair with undertones of rustic charm at the Woodwalk Gallery in Egg Harbor, Wis. The couple were smitten with Woodwalk’s quaint grounds and historic barn right from the get-go. The venue provided the cozy, inviting vibe Katherine and Kevin were after, as well as a blank canvas for them to make their own. “The words we kept coming back to were rustic glamour and romance,” says Katherine. “We wanted our guests to think they were coming to a country barn up north and then, on the wedding day, realize that we were actually throwing a very glamorous, upscale event.” Shades of petal pink, mint green and gold softened the rustic features of the barn, while details like sequin table runners, gold cutlery, glitter-flecked chargers and mercury glass accents created an undeniably sophisticated and festive backdrop for the evening. Flowers were an essential ingredient in bringing Katherine and Kevin’s vision to life and Flora Special Occasion Flowers didn’t disappoint. An antique wedding arch draped in a lush garland of peonies, amaranth, roses and greenery framed the couple as they exchanged vows they’d written themselves and perfectly arranged bunches of roses, peonies, phlox, larkspur and hydrangeas in footed glass vases infused the reception tabletops with elegance and a note of femininity. Playful details like hand-sewn ribbon chair decorations, an illustrated floral seating chart and an ombre cake added an element of whimsy to the decor, while wooden farm tables helped tie together the day’s two themes. A tip for the taking from Katherine: “Remember your marriage license! An hour before the ceremony I realized that I had brought the envelope with our birth certificates instead of our marriage license. We got married almost four hours away from home, so going to get it was not an option. It was almost a real crisis, but in the end we were able to overnight it to Door County and all was well.”
