A Moody, Romantic Wedding at The Farm at Old Edwards Inn in Highlands, North Carolina

Tayler and Josh Kirsch wed in the mountains of North Carolina, where the bride's family has a vacation home. "The area around Highlands is widely known for its vibrant fall foliage. We knew our guests would love the cooler temperatures and scenery as much as we do," Tayler says. The wedding had a romantic, modern theme with a moody color palette of emerald green, burgundy, merlot and deep pink. Pops of black and charcoal created depth and dimension. The indoor ceremony happened after sundown, so Tayler and Josh used soft lighting throughout the room with stronger beams focused on the flower-covered chuppah. Rose petals and pampas grass decorated the aisle. Twinkle lights lit the pathway from the ceremony to the reception and drew attention to the grand chandelier in the reception space. "We used a mix of wooden farm tables and round tables, with black and white tablecloths, for guest seating," Tayler says. "Avoiding the use of traditional white china, we also used contemporary black dinnerware." The space abounded with moody-colored flowers like protea, garden roses, dahlias, scabiosas, anemones, hydrangeas, pampas grass and greenery. Other memorable elements included a showstopping hanging installation at the reception, a tiered wedding cake with flowers and a cart serving rosé champagne. Tayler wore an A-line wedding dress with sleeves and a lace pattern, and she changed into a white silk slip mini dress and a personalized “Mrs. Kirsch” jean jacket later in the night. Josh sported a charcoal gray tuxedo with black lapels and buttons.
