A Rustic, Picnic-Inspired Wedding at the Weston Red Barn Farm in Weston, Missouri

For their wedding, it was important to Whitney Hutsell (28 and a school social worker) and Jennifer Wilson (30 and a hospitality manager) to create a welcoming, laid-back vibe that allowed their guests to kick back and have a good time. An outdoor wedding was a must for the nature-loving pair and the Weston Red Barn Farm in Weston, MO fit the bill, providing a beautiful, relaxed environment for the informal affair and plenty of indoor and outdoor event spaces to choose from. To highlight the stunning natural setting, the couple chose a summer wedding date, ensuring that the farm’s apple orchard would be in full bloom when they said their “I do’s.” Inspired by the summer season, Whitney and Jennifer opted for a color palette rich in cheery shades of yellow, bright pops of blue and a base of classic ivory. The couple, with the help of their family and friends, put together all of the flower arrangements and centerpieces themselves, using full blooms like roses and stock flowers to introduce a subtle hint of romance to the decor. Milk glass vases, vintage hardcover books, burlap accents and hand-painted wooden signs were key details in playing up the wedding’s rustic theme, while strands of fairy lights and elegant chandeliers hanging from the barn’s rafters added an air of ambiance to the historic space. Dinner played off the couple’s picnic proposal, serving up a selection of fresh bruschetta, fried chicken, potato salad and assorted fruit pies for dessert. After dinner guests enjoyed a night filled with dancing and making s’mores under the stars.
