A Rustic Outdoor Wedding at Demmitt Hall in Alberta, Canada
Braydon (24, an Electrician) proposed to Katie (21, an Appraiser) on a trip to Rim Rocks, just as the sun set across the valley. "That's when he took my hands, told me I was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with, and got down on one knee," Katie says. He then gave her a purple plastic ring! "He had planned on getting me an engagement ring while I was working out of town, but to his surprise, I came home early! After we watched the sun set that evening, he took me to the jewelers and we picked out my ring," Katie recalls happily. Since the couple is very outdoorsy, they wanted a laid back, outdoor wedding with rustic elements. Their reception at the environmentally friendly Demmitt Hall fit the couple's personal aesthetics perfectly. Katie let the setting inspire her and she designed and arranged the decor, using elements like bird houses, bird cages, candle lanterns, mushrooms and big branches to bring out the rustic vibe of the venue. The DIY rustic decor informed the laid back nature of the wedding. "I was told by many guests that our wedding was the most relaxing wedding they'd been to, which was really nice to hear," Katie says. At the end of the day, the couple gave out seed paper cut into hearts as favors, a perfect cap to round out their rustic, casual, wedding.
