A Rustic Oceanfront Wedding at Linekin Bay Resort in Boothbay Harbor, ME

Jana Richardson (33, a digital media professional) and David Turco (33, a financial services professional) met in 1999 as freshman at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. They were friends throughout college, but didn't start dating until Dave moved to DC for work after business school and they literally bumped into each other on the street. Dave's job moved him around quite a bit. They started dating in DC, then long distance while he lived in Los Angeles for eight months, then moved to NYC together -- and finally live in Chicago. He proposed in February of 2014 while on a walk by Lake Michigan.“We were married at a sailing camp in Boothbay Harbor, Maine,” Jana says. “I grew up in Maine, it's where we met and we love any excuse to be there. Wedding planning from Chicago forced us to be very efficient -- we found Linekin Bay Resort through our initial web search and of the six other venues we visited, it had everything we wanted. We had exclusive use of the property for the weekend and all of our guests could stay there. We wanted everyone to be able to arrive and just relax. They had kayaking and a salt water pool for our guests to enjoy and we were directly on the ocean. Looking out in the distance across the water, there was also a view to Ocean Point, which is where both of my paternal grandparent's ashes were scattered, so it was a nice way of feeling like they were a part of the day.”They wanted a casual, beautiful rustic feel, with a color palette of deep blues, complementing the ocean, and oranges, corals and yellows to complement. “There were no TV's or phones in the rooms, so everyone had a chance to be outdoors and enjoy the beautiful weather (we had an 80 degree and sunny end of September weekend!),” Jana says. “Since we met in college, we used bags from the Bowdoin bookstore as our gift bags, and one of my bridesmaids drew a custom image for us to use on the welcome notes. We designed custom cups so everyone could enjoy beverages on the property and fully relax and enjoy their time in Maine.”
