A Rustic, Natural Wedding at Foxfire Mountain House in Tremper, New York

Nikia Rodriguez and Jeff Broadway instantly fell in love with Foxfire Mountain House, located near Nikia’s home region of upstate New York. “Both the setting and experience were magical,” the couple says. “We chose to complement the natural colors of the property grounds with understated earthy tones in the form of linens, florals, food and dress.” The outdoor ceremony took place in front of a whimsical forest, and textural arrangements lined the grassy aisle. Afterward, guests attended cocktail hour on the grounds of the house before moving inside a white tent for the reception. “It featured a Moroccan tile dance floor, wood farm tables, string lights and delicate vines to soften the inner structure of the tent,” the couple says. They decorated the raw wood tables with cheesecloth runners, gold-colored candles in votives and whimsical, neutral-colored floral arrangements. Perhaps the highlight of the night was the venue’s in-house culinary team, which assembled locally sourced Hudson Valley–inspired items for the delicious dinner.
Our favorite #MakeTradition moment: “While neither of us is very religious, we were both born to Jewish mothers and raised around the traditions of Judaism,” the couple says. “Because of this, we chose to incorporate some traditional elements into our otherwise nontraditional ceremony. We were married by our dear friend, who had never officiated a wedding before. Needless to say he isn't a rabbi, but he diligently researched the traditions we wanted to implement and gracefully led us through the ceremony.”
