A Rustic Multicultural Wedding at Longlook Farm in Sanbornton, New Hampshire

Nic Marchetto (32, a Private Behavior Analyst) and Lisa Truong (36, an Athletic Trainer) first met on a blind date in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. "Nic texted me to go out for drinks, but I was reluctant, as I had been on a string of very bad blind dates! But within the first hour, I knew I made the right choice," Lisa recalls. The couple was together for a year and a half when Lisa proposed. "I knew that I wanted to propose to Nic in front of her family, since Nic comes from a very close-knit Italian family," Lisa says. When the couple was home for Christmas, Lisa led Nic on mini physical challenge game where she was told to "find the string." Nic followed the string outdoors, through large snowbanks, with small written clues that contained milestones and memorable moments from their relationship leading her way, to the final big question. "I was completely blindsided and literally lost for words, but somehow managed the single most important one: Yes!" Nic recalls happily. Even though the couple lives overseas, they decided to hold their wedding outdoors, overlooking the gorgeous New England countryside, since Nic is originally from Massachusetts. They wanted to pay homage to both of their cultural and ethnic roots; a whimsical blend of cultures colliding and complementing each other: Vietnamese props like rice paddy hats and bamboo fans were given to guests at the ceremony while a string duet played Italian opera music, and orchid centerpieces and Vietnamese silk cloths complemented the bomboniere favors and Italian menus. "Don't be afraid at all costs to just be you, and do you, whatever that means. When I started planning, I was immediately inundated by endless models of what a "perfect wedding" is, and I couldn't relate to any of them. The most inspiring, the most beauty, is not in the details, but in your simple truth. Just let your flag fly!" Nic says.
