A Rustic Mountain Wedding at Wild Basin Lodge in Allenspark, Colorado

Jacquelyn McKay (29 and a speech language pathologist) and Matthew Littlejohn (29 and an economist) met at a tavern one summer night while they were out with their friends. Jacquelyn caught Matthew's eye and the two spent the evening talking, but at the end of the night they went their separate ways. By chance a week later, while roaming the streets of Capitol Hill in search of his friend, Matthew ran into Jacquelyn. This time Matthew made sure to get her number. Several years later, Matthew popped the question on a Saturday morning at their home. When it came to planning their wedding, the couple decided on the Wild Basin Lodge in Allenspark, Colorado, where Jacquelyn spent every summer while growing up. "When we were looking at places to get married, we both knew we wanted to get married in the mountains," says Matthew. "We looked in Estes Park for different venues, but Jacquelyn had dreamed of getting married in front of Meeker with the beautiful views. We toured Wild Basin and immediately fell in love with the rustic qualities of the lodge and the welcoming atmosphere from all of the employees." The couple opted for a rustic, vintage aesthetic for the day, filling the day with antique lace, mason jars and reclaimed props, and using a color palette of blue and charcoal gray with pops of bright color. Highlighting the setting was the important to the couple, so an outdoor ceremony kicked the day off with Jacquelyn and Matthew exchanging vows in front of a backdrop of majestic mountains and acres of open pastures before heading to the cozy lodge for an evening of dinner and dancing.
