A Rustic Mountain Wedding at the Paseo in Apache Junction, Arizona

From the moment Elana Weiner (25 and a therapist) saw Erin Deuble (26 and a brewer), she was smitten. "As soon as Erin walked in the door, my jaw dropped and I clammed up, and usually you can't get me to stop talking," Elana says. When searching for the perfect venue, they fell in love with the Paseo in Apache Junction, Arizona. The breathtaking views of the desert and Superstition Mountain provided a stunning natural backdrop. “We played off the beautiful landscape, adding rustic and vintage touches with pops of yellow, navy blue and white,” Elana says. A repurposed window pane served as their seating chart, and each table featured a wooden planter as their centerpiece. Sunflowers (Erin’s favorite flower) were sprinkled throughout the decor, including in the garland that wound around the birch chuppah that held the tallith Elana's parents used at their own wedding. Erin and Elana fused a traditional Jewish ceremony with some of their own modern twists. Rather than the groom circling the bride seven times, each bride circled the other three times, completing the final circle together. At the end, they both broke pieces of glass, and the shards were used to create a piece of art that now hangs in their home. “Every decision that we made reflected who we are as a couple, even if a little outside the traditional norm. If tradition doesn't fit with you, then make your own.” —Jen Leahy
