A Rustic Mountain Wedding at Park City Mountain Resort in Park City, Utah

“Our relationship, early on, was built on adventure,” Jen Hudak says of her bond with Chris Moore. “It was how we met, it was how we fell in love, and it will be how we stay in love.” The two crossed paths on a mountain bike trail when they were on separate soul-searching trips. The adventurous couple later chose to wed at Park City Mountain Resort in Park City, Utah. “Tying in adventure to our wedding was an obvious choice, but I didn't want an 'Indiana Jones'-style wedding,” Jen says. “I still wanted soft, natural, earthy and romantic elements.” Guests took a ski lift to the outdoor ceremony, where the couple exchanged vows within a circle of locally foraged grasses. Then everyone took an alpine slide to the indoor reception, where florist Amber Reverie helped highlight the natural beauty. “We pulled in a ton of greenery and wild roses and used candles and votives to up the romantic factor,” Jen says. Tables were topped with either Aspen leaf garlands or full bouquets of wild roses and peonies. In another adventuresome touch, friends and family signed vintage skis instead of a guest book. The entire day was imbued with even deeper emotions, since Jen's father was not in attendance—he had died a year earlier. "Planning the wedding, in many respects, was harder than going through the wedding day," Jen says. "Anticipating what I would feel, how to handle the father-daughter dance and who would walk me down the aisle was much more difficult than doing it. On my wedding day, I felt closer to my father than I had since he passed away. No part of that day would have happened if he hadn't been my father. Having all his brothers and his sister there brought him back to life in ways I couldn't have imagined." —Carolyn Meers
