A Rustic Mountain Wedding at Donovan Pavilion in Vail, Colorado

Lindsay Kaufman (27 and works in health and life insurance) and Tim Parks (27 and an e-commerce merchandising coordinator) were engaged on their seven

Lindsay Kaufman (27 and works in health and life insurance) and Tim Parks (27 and an e-commerce merchandising coordinator) were engaged on their seventh anniversary. They had planned to cook dinner together and enjoy each other’s company. Although they had originally agreed not to exchange gifts, Tim lied. When Lindsay got home, Tim had flowers, a card and a wrapped present waiting for her. It was a photo album of their journeys together. “The very last page was a letter he had wrote expressing how much he loved me and asking me to spend the rest of my life with him,” Lindsay says. “Before I could look at him he was on his knee asking me to be his wife for the rest of my life. I was beside myself and, of course, crying. I did say, ‘Yes’ in there somewhere, too.” Lindsay and Tim grew up skiing, snowboarding, hiking and camping in the mountains. With a profound love for the setting, the couple decided to get married surrounded by the place that truly felt like home. They exchanged vows on The Vail Wedding Deck overlooking the Vail Valley and beautiful mountain range. “The Vail Wedding Deck reminds us of much we love the mountains and all that Colorado has to offer," she says. "It knocked the wind out of us when we walked on to the wedding deck. We knew that we had to get married there the minute we saw the view.”Afterwards, they went to Donovan Pavilion for a modern mountain reception. They used shades of gray, yellow and white for a clean, chic color palette. They used roses, seeded eucalyptus and aspen logs for a little rustic flair. They even created their own vine ball lighting to hang from the antler chandeliers for a little drama. They finished the night with boxed spice jar favors. “Each favor was a jar of spices, there was a Lindsay spice and a Tim spice,” Lindsay says. “Each one was personalized with a note for the guests with cooking ideas and our signature T & L. They turned out wonderful and had a spice of love to them!”

Lindsay and Tim loved the indoor and outdoor capabilities of Donovan Pavilion. The couple kept their reception simple and chic with low centerpieces and white and gray linens.
“We wanted a bold statement lighting that everyone would just ooh and ahh over but would also blend everything together,” Lindsay says. “The vine ball lighting did just that.” The couple hung vine balls from the rustic antler chandeliers for a little extra spunk.
