A Rustic Mountain Getaway Wedding at Molly Butler Lodge in Greer, Arizona

Shonda Marek (48 and a banker) has had a picture on her office wall for nearly a decade: her dream cabin in Greer, Arizona next to a pair of horse stalls and a wishing well. From that picture, John Dickson (42 and a helicopter pilot) was able to locate the cabin in and surprised Shonda with a romantic trip there for their three-year anniversary, complete with their two horses. Following dinner at Molly Butler Lodge, John took Shonda to the wishing well in her photo where he got down on one knee. “We knew without hesitation that we wanted to get married at the very spot we got engaged,” says Shonda. The ceremony took place in a lush clearing in front of the wishing well, followed by a reception at the Molly Butler Lodge. The wedding reflected couple’s Western style from the wedding party’s cowboy boots and hats to the rustic decor of mason jars, rope, hay and country accents. Their wedding cake, frosted to look like birch wood, stood apart atop a century-old wooden box displaying the couple’s custom TLW brand. “Everyone was in awe of Greer, Arizona… The young kids had fun, and the old ‘kids’ had fun. We laughed, we cried, we danced, we celebrated, we made memories forever,” says the bride. “What more could we ask for but to make people feel special?”
