With family and friends coming from as far away as Tokyo, Japan to celebrate their nuptials, Miranda Wegricht (27 and a registered financial advisor assistant) and George Wegricht (31 and production manager) wanted to make an entire weekend out of their wedding, where guests could kick back, relax and truly enjoy themselves. The Lake Shore Village Resort in Weare, NH was the perfect backdrop for the event, offering beautiful natural scenery, ample accommodations and plenty of fun lakeside activities like kayaking, waterskiing and hiking to keep guests entertained all weekend long. The day kicked off with a ceremony on the beach, where the couple exchanged heartfelt vows with their toes in the sand, followed by a cocktail hour on the lawn where guests got competitive with lawn games like corn hole and ladder ball while taking in the striking water views. The reception was a tented affair filled with summery arrangements of bright purple and white blooms, birch accents and warm candlelight, lending a romantic, rustic feel to the evening. George put his creativity and craftiness to work, handmaking everything from the ceremony’s birch wedding arbor to the corn hole sets and aluminum bottle opener favors. The festivities went strong until 11PM, when the couple led guests down to the beach in a blaze of bright sparkler light, where they continued the celebration into the wee hours, complete with bonfires, s’mores and a few late night snacks. “We enjoyed music by the fire pit, which is how we ended the night,” says Miranda. “I want to do it all again!”

To balance out the rustic feel of their venue, Miranda and George opted for semi-formal wedding attire. George and his groomsmen donned classic gray suits with matching waistcoats and striped silver ties. To complement the locale, they ditched traditional dress shoes, opting instead for pairs of preppy gray boat shoes.
Miranda’s wedding dress captured the essence of the day, with it’s classic design and understated, yet sophisticated feel. The strapless, fit-and-flare number featured lightweight taffeta fabric, perfect for the 90-degree day, a sweetheart neckline and chapel-length train. She paired the look with a simple ballet-length veil, stud earrings and a small pendant necklace.

George proposed to Miranda during a six-week backpacking trip through Europe to visit and meet George’s family in both the Czech Republic and Switzerland. Over the Christmas holiday, the pair made a stop in Lausanne, Switzerland where George’s brother lives. After a day of snowshoeing, the couple enjoyed a decadent dinner out on the town and ended the evening with a walk on the top of the mountain through snow covered trees near their chalet. “George started talking about the importance of marriage to him and having a wife that was his best friend,” says Miranda. “Shortly thereafter, he pointed out a champagne bottle in the snow and told me to go get it. I was a bit hesitant, but when I pulled it out of the snow, attached to it by a string was my engagement ring. I turned around and George was down on one knee.”
From the bouquets to the boutonnieres and the centerpieces, bright summer blooms infused the day with color, energy and life. The tables were topped with bundles of calla lilies, hydrangeas, sweet pea, lisianthuses and stock in shades of white and purple, with birch rounds cut by George adding a rustic element to their design.
George’s creativity and craftiness were put to the test throughout the planning process. From the rustic birch wedding arbor to the corn hole sets and aluminum bottle opener favors, George handcrafted many of the day’s details, playing an important role in bringing the couple’s vision for a romantic, rustic summer wedding to life.
After a waterfront ceremony on the beach, Miranda and George invited guests to enjoy cocktail hour on the Lake Shore Village Resort lawn. Lawn games like corn hole and ladder ball kept guests entertained as they sipped on cocktails and took in the spectacular views of the water and iconic New Hampshire landscape.
Before hitting the dance floor, Miranda and George treated guests to decadent carrot cake cupcakes topped with real pansies. For the cutting cake, the couple opted for a three-tier naked mocha confection decorated with bright purple blooms and lengths of satin ribbon.
At 11PM, Miranda and George made a grand exit from the reception tent through a blaze of brightly lit sparklers down to the beach where the party continued late into the night. George had constructed three fire pits along the beach where bon fires roared and guests could roast marshmallows and make s’mores. The couple fueled the party with a few late night snacks like meatball subs, steak tips, chicken, veggies, dips and more. “We enjoyed music by the fire pit, which is how we ended the night,” says Miranda. “I want to do it all again!”
