A Rustic Jewel-Tone Wedding at Rhubarb in Asheville, North Carolina
As residents of Asheville, Abhi and Peter Haschke chose to wed in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. "Our theme was bohemian to keep with the natural surroundings," Abhi says. "We wanted a small, intimate ceremony since we were also going to have ceremonies in Germany and Sri Lanka, as my husband and I come from different countries." The ceremony took place beneath an intertwining of tress, where the rhododendrons and natural mountain landscape served as décor. For the reception, guests headed to Rhubarb in Asheville. Abhi and Peter dressed up the restaurant with DIY details, brass candle sticks and red flowers in glass vases. Jewel-tone touches, from the watercolor wedding invitations to the colorful bridal bouquet, tied everything together. Abhi also added personalization with her eclectic accessories—a tiered statement necklace and green high-heeled oxford shoes.
Our favorite #MakeTradition Moment: "I used my pottery hobby to make bowls and succulent pots for each guest," Abhi says. "It was a hectic project but ultimately fun and rewarding to make 60 pieces of pottery during the weeks leading to the ceremony and dinner. This was a team effort by my husband (who made the glazes) and me. On the night before the wedding, we stayed up until 2 a.m. trying to get all the pottery glazed, fired and ready for the guests!"
