A Rustic-Glam Wedding at Flying Diamond Ranch in Steamboat Springs, Colorado

With a palette of ivory, blush and champagne, Kari Klinkenborg (31 and a commercial actress and food blogger) and Ryan Anderson (29 and an NBA basketball player) pulled off a rustic-glam summer wedding in Kari’s home state of Colorado. Planning from out of state, the pair teamed up with designer David Beahm and Gold Leaf Event Design to bring their vision to life. Flying Diamond Ranch’s aspen groves, open fields and mountain views set a relaxed, natural tone for the soiree, which Kari and Ryan played up with wood farm tables, arrangements dominated by lush greenery and a clear reception tent that showed off the picturesque setting. For the ceremony, the couple transformed a field into an open-air chapel complete with stained-glass doors and a dramatic wood structure. To put a personal twist on the ceremony, Kari and Ryan exchanged personalized vows and invited their favorite artist, Grammy-nominated Zach Williams, to perform during the processional and recessional. To ensure there were no grumbling stomachs during the ceremony, trays piled high with hors d’oeuvres, spiked lemonade and champagne made their way through the crowd. After the “I dos,” the newlyweds and their guests sipped on spicy margaritas and played lawn games in a clearing surrounded by trees before heading to the reception tent for dinner and dancing. Kari and Ryan took a more glamorous approach to the reception décor, decking out the tent with crystal chandeliers, cascading vines and panels of airy ivory fabric. Pink vintage-inspired glassware and blooms added a pop of color to the muted tablescapes. A subtle hummingbird theme also ran through the evening, a nod to Kari’s grandmother. Hummingbird feeders hung from the trees surrounding cocktail hour, and the tiny bird made an appearance on escort cards and the monogram on the dance floor. “It was my way of feeling like she was there with us every step of the way,” Kari says. “I can’t thank our team enough for executing that theme so beautifully. Everyone there knew the significance of the hummingbird to my family, so it made it really special.”
