A Rustic Fall Rocky River Vineyards Wedding in Midland, North Carolina
When Megan, 26 and a research chemist, first met David, 30 and an accounting manager, during her freshman year of college at North Carolina State, their relationship didn't blossom. Four years later, the pair reconnected on Facebook when Megan moved to Charlotte after graduation and it took another three years before they were officially an item. David waited until December to propose and surprised Megan with an engagement ring after they finished decorating their Christmas tree. "He gave me a special ornament called a 'Wishing Ball' for us to write our wishes down each year and put them inside the ornament," says Megan. "When he opened up the ball for us to put the papers inside, there was the ring—I immediately screamed with joy and said yes—and then I said 'Oh wait, you’re supposed to say something first?!'" Once it was official, Megan and David planned a Rocky River Vineyards celebration with an autumnal red and yellow color scheme. The couple swapped vows in front of a rustic green barn that was nestled in between rows of grapevines before inviting guests over to the open pavilion for a night of dancing and Southern fare. Seasonal arrangements of fresh flowers, made by the bride, decorated the DIY reception and burlap accents added to the rustic feel.
