A Rustic-Elegant Destination Wedding in the Mountains of Sintra, Portugal

After visiting Sintra, Portugal, while they were dating, Madison Otterbein and Loren Harris decided to tie the knot in the quaint, historic city. "We wanted the day to be a celebration of color and joy, nothing stuffy or too serious," Madison says. "It was a party filled with laughter and tears of joy." The festivities took place at a private, family-owned villa with plenty of natural beauty, which allowed the couple to keep the décor simple. "We had dahlias and roses in shades of coral and off-white with pops of blue, glass lanterns with candles lining the walkways and bubble machines blowing bubbles in the courtyard during the ceremony," Madison says. A wood rectangular frame with flowers and greenery stood at the scenic ceremony site. The rustic reception overlooked Portuguese mountains, and it was dressed up with wood tables, peacock-inspired sweetheart chairs and magical string lights. Madison stunned in a custom-made gown with a sophisticated mermaid silhouette and open back, while the bridesmaids wore gray-blue gowns that popped against the venue's pink façade. Loren looked dapper in a black suit, white shirt and silver tie —"very James Bond," Madison says.
