A Rustic, Elegant Barn Wedding at Desert Foothills Weddings and Events in Scottsdale, Arizona

“We wanted our families to be involved in our wedding as much as possible, so we could show them how special they are to us,” Whitney Mailloux (27 and a nurse) says of her marriage to Ryan Benson (27 and an attorney). This couple made sure that all aspects of their day were memorable and meaningful, such as the personalized ceremony programs (which shared interesting facts about the couple and their guests), the quilt square guest book and mirror they used for table assignments that now reside in their home and their ceremony's officiant (Whitney’s father). “It was particularly important to have someone marry us who meant something to us and knew our story,” the bride says. Their Scottsdale, Arizona, wedding at Desert Foothills Weddings and Events was the perfect blank canvas for Whitney and Ryan to turn into a space that reflected their personal styles. “We are both relaxed, casual people who love the outdoors and wanted people to enjoy the beautiful, scenic backdrop of the Arizona desert, especially because many of our guests had never been to Arizona,” Whitney says. Their wedding planner, A Day to Cherish, helped the couple bring add candles, string lights and chandeliers for an intimate, romantic celebration in the barn. One of the couple’s favorite decorations? Their wedding cake, by Kick Ass Kakes, was full of ruffles (not to mention stunning handmade pink sugar peonies).
