A Rustic DIY Wedding at a Private Residence in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts

Susan Bove (30 and in career development) and Corey Hoehn's (30 and in clinical integration) wedding felt like a relaxing day on the island of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. The wedding began with a ceremony in Old Whaling Church in Edgartown, Massachusetts, where the bride’s father performed a touching service filled with personal stories, marriage advice, jokes and love. “It was the true definition of a father giving his daughter away,” Susan says. The couple decided to have the reception outside under a tent at an oceanfront private residence in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts. Their wedding was filled with personal, DIY details such as wooden wedding signs, farm tables and vintage vase decor, an old mailbox as a card drop-off, a clothing line filled with pictures of the couple’s family and friends and a coffee-table guest book. “It is now one of our favorite pieces of furniture in our home,” the couple says. Susan and Cory also participated in their family song traditions: The Hoehns sang “American Pie” together, followed by Susan’s family and new in-laws singing “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” to bring down the house. A Brilliant Photo beautifully captured the relaxed, fun-filled wedding. “Our advice to anyone hosting an outdoor wedding who may worry about the elements is not to think twice about it,” the couple says. “Our family and friends know how to party, and we knew we would all be so happy together celebrating, we’d have the time of our lives no matter what. Magically and miraculously, the weather was perfect.”
