A Rustic, DIY Wedding at Private Residence in McBride, British Columbia

Michelle Gredling (27 and a hairstylist) and Peter Gredling (25 and a driller) created the perfect rustic wedding in their parents' backyards overlooking the scenic mountains in the Robson Valley in McBride, British Columbia, captured by V.I.Photography. "We are fortunate that our parents have acreage in the beautiful mountains of the Robson Valley," Michelle says. The couple said their "I dos" in Michelle's parents' backyard, where wooden elements completed the rustic theme. Small tree stumps with potted plants lined the ceremony aisle, while a wooden gazebo acted as the perfect backdrop. "The style I wanted for the wedding was backyard, casual and fun, fun, fun," Michelle says. The day continued in Peter's parents' backyard, where guests celebrated under large white tents for the cut-loose reception. Michelle and Peter did much of the decorating themselves, adding plenty of DIY elements. For the centerpieces, they used wooden boxes and filled them with white hydrangeas, roses and carnations, while black lanterns and curly willows in vases wrapped in burlap sat completed the rustic look. Michelle's favorite element of the decor, however, was the DIY bar of ingredients for guests to make lemon drops. It was important to Michelle and Peter that their wedding be a fun party for everyone, with every guest feeling appreciated. "I wanted every person at our wedding to know I appreciated them being there, even if it was my first time meeting them," Michelle says.
