A Rustic, DIY Wedding at Historic Prallsville Mills in Stockton, New Jersey
When Kenneth Cohen (37 and a professor) told Rebecca Levy (31 and a diplomat) she wrote like David Sedaris after the two met online, she was impressed and intrigued. And it didn't take them a first date to realize their connection. After they became engaged, the couple knew they wanted to keep their wedding laid-back with a rustic atmosphere. With Kenneth being a historian and professor, Historic Prallsville Mills became the perfect venue for their wedding and reception. To bring out the casual nature of their theme, Rebecca and Kenneth opted not to have a wedding party and to arrive to the ceremony site together -- by kayak! With a historic site as their venue, the couple used easy and simple decor, adding colorful flowers throughout. For the cocktail hour, Kenneth's sister brewed all of the beer to pair with signature drinks like Dark & Stormies and gin-and-tonics. Kenneth's mother was also kind enough to make the stunning wedding cake and all of the desserts for the guests. Rebecca and Kenneth aimed for a wide range of food options, from ceviche and burger sliders during the cocktail hour to braised ribs and eggplant napoleon for the main course. As a creative and unique wedding favor, the couple had cake pops created with designs of tuxedos and wedding dresses. "We trusted the people who helped us out to make everything fit the rustic setting; [we] were so lucky to have lots of help," says Rebecca.
