A Rustic DIY Wedding at Devil’s Thumb Ranch in Tabernash, Colorado

With stunning views of the mountains, lush green fields and a gorgeous wooden ballroom, it’s obvious why Kiley Fattor (27 and an artist and entrepreneur) and Toby Handy (29 and a federal security supervisor) chose Devil’s Thumb Ranch in Tabernash, Colorado, for their nuptials. “In addition to the absolute beauty of Devil’s Thumb, they have the nicest, most professional and accommodating staff of anywhere we visited,” Kiley says. “From the sales manager down to the doorman everyone genuinely likes being there and it shows. This was the icing on the cake, and ensured that our guests would feel special in their own right.” Kiley and Toby knew exactly what they wanted for their day: techie gears like the custom clock cake topper, lots of texture like the handmade table runners sewn with contrasting buttons and vintage flair like the typewriter decor. These details added a personalized flair we can’t help but love. “Toby and I are a perfect blend of sweet and salty, frills and grit, mountains and plains,” Kiley says. “So in the planning we made use of balancing bold choices and contrasts starting with our colors. I knew I wanted to use teal and orange as our colors, but in order to make them really pop, used a chocolaty-grey for the base color.” One of our favorite details was the ultra-local tribute during cocktail hour including Breckenridge bourbon old-fashioneds or Tommyknocker’s Maple Nut Brown ale. “As Coloradans, we had to plug our favorite microbrews,” Kiley says. Another standout detail? The adorable wedding favors: a personalized Lego kit in the wedding's colors. There are so many details we love. See them all, beautifully captured by Stori H.
