A Rustic Country Wedding at a Private Residence in Laurel, Montana
Everything—from the hand-me-down dress to the canning and mason jar centerpieces to the refurbished barn wood signs—honored Misee Heiken (27 and a department administrator) and Scott Heiken's (27 and a field sales representative) family. "I was determined to plan a strictly handmade wedding with meaning behind every detail," Misee says. And she totally nailed it! The wheat in the centerpieces came from Scott's grandparents' farm and also served as a symbol of Misee's time in Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. How cool is that? It didn't stop there. One of our favorite details was Misee's dress, which her sister had worn three years earlier. "I liked the idea of bringing elements of family into all aspects of the wedding," she says. "What better way to do that than by wearing a beautiful dress worn by your stunning sister?" They even kept the wedding at home, with their backyard venue in Laurel, Montana. "Ever since I can remember I have envisioned a wedding held outside at a family member's home," Misee says. "For our ceremony we chose the back portion of Scott's parents' property on the piece the piece of land where Scott proposed, which offered miles of open field and a big sky only Montana could provide." There's so much to love about this rustic country wedding. See all our favorite details, beautifully captured by Ivory Door Studio, below.
