A Rustic-Chic Wedding at ThornCreek Winery and Gardens in Aurora, Ohio

ThornCreek Winery and Gardens in Aurora, Ohio, had the beautiful garden ceremony space and tented lawn reception area that Lauren Day (24 and a teacher) and Damon Day (26 and a quality engineer) had envisioned for their rustic-chic wedding. “Wooden accents, seersucker and mason jars were my inspiration,” Lauren says. “My dad’s favorite hobby is carpentry, so growing up with that I knew I wanted some of that in my wedding.” And so they did incorporate all those specific details—from the DIY wood box centerpieces packed with flowers to the mason jars filled with striped straws, and even seersucker ties and pocket squares that Damon and his groomsmen wore! The palette of pink and green made the dining table centerpieces of roses and hydrangeas pop with color, designed by Highland Heights Floral that were beautifully captured by Emily Millay Photography. Since the wedding was held at a winery, it was only natural to have the cocktail hour in the wine cellar, serving an abundant amount of, you guessed it, wine! To remember their special day, the couple gave out green and pink koozies with a shaded sketch of the state of Ohio, along with their name and wedding date. “The koozies were on display near the bar, and by the end of the night it was fun to see all the guests that were using them,” Lauren says. “Guests were able to take these home to remember our special day, and we still have a few at home that we use as well!”
