A Rustic, Chic Wedding at the Kelley Agricultural Museum in Sharpsville, Indiana

After taking a self-defense class together, Heather (30 and a physician's assistant) and Gabe (39 and a software engineer) clicked almost immediately. "We both started taking classes there around the same time and had an easy friendship," Heather says. "A couple of years later, we went out with mutual friends and once we saw each other in a more social setting, we became inseparable." While planning their spring wedding, the couple chose the Kelley Agricultural Historical Museum just north of Indianapolis. "They have a historic round barn on their property along with an old farmhouse and beautiful, gray log cabins," the bride explains. "We stepped on the property and just knew it was perfect. We were able to get ready in the farmhouse and the upstairs of the barn was simply breathtaking with all of its wooden slats and beams." Since the to-be-weds wanted a small, intimate wedding; they stuck with a soft, rustic theme along with the occasional whimsical element. "I purposefully left out standard wedding traditions because I wanted the day to feel less forced and more organic," the bride says. The night before the nuptials, Heather and her bridesmaids crafted the bouquets together while her parents worked to create chalkboards, signs and other DIY details. Guests enjoyed a popcorn bar and local craft beers post-ceremony during the couple's cocktail hour as well. "Our focus was on creating a relaxing, entertaining day for everyone involved," Heather says. "The day was really unpretentious and just a celebration with our closest friends and family members."
