A Rustic-Chic Wedding at Casa de Santa Teresa in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Inspired by their venue’s panoramic views of the mountains and the sea, Maite and Nolan Simoneaux planned a rustic-chic wedding with a tropical twist in Maite’s native Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The entire event was hosted outdoors to take advantage of the setting, offering guests glimpses of Guanabara Bay and Sugar Loaf during dinner and the “I dos.” Natural wood elements, a palette of neutral and earth tones, and greenery-heavy floral arrangements tied in seamlessly with the landscape, while copper accents, elegant furnishings and twinkle light installations delivered the classy, formal feel the couple was after. Family photos and monogrammed pillows, mason jars, welcome signs and even flip flops put a personal twist on the day’s details. As a tribute to the locale, Maite and Nolan had a caipirinha bar during cocktail hour, complete with fresh fruits that guests could mix into their drinks. Another delicious Brazilian tradition the pair incorporated into the festivities was a sweets table, which they piled high with chocolates, candies and pastries. “We waited three years to get married so our daughter could participate in the wedding,” Maite says. “Seeing her carrying our rings and our first dance with her was so special. She still talks about how much fun she had.”
