A Rustic-Boho Wedding at Flying V Ranch in Decatur, Texas
At Flying V Ranch in Decatur, Texas, Olivia Howard (26 and a sonographer) and Clint Padilla (24 and an operator) brought their rustic-meets-boho nuptial celebration to life with wooden and gold decor, lush white florals and a delicious spread of Texas barbecue. “What we wanted for our wedding was something laid-back, simple and elegant,” Olivia says. “For our wedding decor we were blessed enough to find a breathtaking venue that honestly didn't need much of anything, just a few touches of personal style here and there. I really went for a rustic feel with a bohemian twist.” The couple exchanged vows in an outdoor ceremony under a beautiful large oak tree. Olivia made her grand entrance through large white church doors that were opened right before she was escorted down the aisle by her father. After their nature-inspired ceremony, the couple celebrated with dinner and dancing in the barn. “Choosing our food was so simple because my mother owns a restaurant, Shinola's Texas Cafe, so we knew she would fulfill our wishes for the dinner menu,” Olivia says. The lavish spread of Texas barbecue included pulled pork, smoked sausage, mac and cheese, scalloped potatoes and barbecue baked beans with rolls. For kids, there were corn dogs, chicken strips and heart-shaped peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwiches. Their reception space was decked out in lush greenery, tall candelabras, lanterns and beautiful blooms. Olivia added rustic touches with DIY decor like wooden signs and a guest book created out of cut fabric signed by guests, which the couple used to create a quilt. “My favorite part of our wedding was just seeing everyone come together and have a great time in celebration of our marriage,” Olivia says. “It was just a great time with great people.” —Marissa Hermanson
