A Rustic Bohemian Wedding at Montesino Ranch in Wimberley, Texas

Ashley Fort (25 and a photographer) and Christopher Maresh (25 and a project manager) planned a rustic affair that highlighted the natural beauty of the working ranch where they exchanged vows. “The Hill Country has always felt like home to us,” Ashley says. Because Ashley has captured so many weddings as a photographer, she knew exactly the look she wanted for her own day. She did most of the planning herself and embraced the unpolished, raw aspects of the ranch. Fresh fruit, lush florals, distressed wood and antique brass accents complemented the simple setting. The flower girl's and ring bearer's bohemian style borrowed heavily from Ashley’s own — the girls wore lace dresses, suede ankle boots and gold leaf crowns, while the boys wore gray trousers with suspenders and bow ties. To symbolize their union, both Christopher and Ashley brought soil from their hometowns to the ceremony and watered an olive tree as a gesture to their Christian faith. Each guest parted with olive oil as a favor. The first dance was to “Love the Lonely Out of You” by Brothers Osborne because the first time Christopher heard it, he says he pictured their wedding day.
