Danielle Kemp (31 and an assistant manager at Free People) and Matt Mong (31 and a regional director of Corvus Janitorial) met briefly through a mutual friend during spring break when they were both in high school, but it wasn't until eight years later that they really got to know each other. After Matt moved from Ohio to Orlando, FL, where Danielle was living at the time, the two reconnected and quickly became close friends. Finally after two years of friendship and dating other people, the two decided to take things to the next level. Matt proposed three years later in their new home of Chicago, while they strolled through Lincoln Park Zoo admiring the Christmas lights, a stunning view of the city skyline creating the perfect backdrop for the moment. The couple planned a fun, rustic affair at Little Brook Meadows in Matt's home state of Ohio. "We just knew this was it. The barn was rustic, yet elegant with distressed wood and globe lighting," says Danielle. "There was a huge old mansion we could rent for the weekend that could house my entire family and the venue was easy to work with and flexible on vendors. There was a corn field behind the barn and a lake as well. It truly was the perfect environment for us to celebrate." Danielle and Matt opted for a timeless color palette of cream and white and introduced rustic elements into the day like wood accents and burlap to create a warm, inviting vibe. Blush and plum accents added a touch of vibrancy to the day, while centerpieces comprising antlers and succulents added a bohemian note to the decor.

When it came to choosing her wedding dress, Danielle wanted something with a romantic, bohemian vibe. BHLDN offered just that and Danielle settled on a flowy A-line gown with all over lace.
Wanting to achieve a whimsical, romantic feel for her bridesmaids' look, Danielle selected a mixture of flowy blush and purple dresses from BHLDN.
Gray and Blush Wedding Party Attire
For the younger members of their wedding party, Danielle and Matt opted for a newsboy-inspired look to fit with the rustic, vintage tone of the wedding.
From the invitations to place cards and ceremony programs, Danielle made all of the wedding's stationery herself using a color printer her father gifted her before the wedding.
To keep guests cool in the August heat, the couple supplied their guests with fans in bright colors and playful prints.
Even before they had a tour of the rustic property, Danielle and Matt were smitten with Little Brook Meadows. "We just knew this was it. The barn was rustic, yet elegant with distressed wood and globe lighting," says Danielle.
To bring their rustic vision to life, Danielle collected antique bottles, gold painted antlers, mason jars and lace for their centerpieces.
As an after dinner treat, Danielle and Matt served their guests an assortment of cupcakes in flavors like buck cups and red velvet.
For the wedding cake, the couple opted for a single layer red velvet cake, Danielle's favorite, frosted with ivory buttercream and topped with green and dark purple succulents.
