A Rustic, Bohemian Wedding at Gladstone's Malibu in Malibu, California

DIY details and natural wood accents lent Lindsay Rahn and Sam Kattenhorn’s bohemian beach wedding a hint of rustic flair. “Growing up, we lived in Ventura County for a few years, and that is what made me completely fall in love with Southern California,” Lindsay says. “The beach we always visited was Zuma along the coast in Malibu, and after we moved from Ventura County, we spent a week in Newport Beach every summer. The good times and happiness I always felt at the beach is what inspired me to want my wedding to be on the sand in my favorite town of Malibu.” The day kicked off with an intimate ceremony at Los Angeles California Temple, followed by a ring exchanging ceremony on the beach outside of Gladstone’s Malibu, where the reception took place. The couple let the beauty of the setting speak for itself by keeping the extras to a minimum. A bit of fresh greenery and two bundles of garden roses framed the aisle, adding a pop of fresh color to the coastal scenery. The reception was where Lindsay and Sam’s vision truly came to life. Bundles of fresh eucalyptus and pale pink garden roses arranged by the couple and their family and friends dotted the reception tables, while strands of bistro lights twinkled overhead. Suspended macramé flowers and rope-wrapped lanterns filled with scented candles captured the festivity’s free-spirited feel, while twig-wreath signage and burlap touches gave the décor a subtle rustic edge.
